While the UK agreed to withdraw from the European Union as of 31st January 2020, a great deal of uncertainty still remains about the implications on trade between the UK and the EU.
As negotiations continue during this transition period, which may not be fully transparent until they are signed off by both the UK and EU at the end of the year, our focus at Klober is business continuity.
Product Availability
Our preparation includes concentrating on the area that is, to the greater extent within our control, the continual supply of our product range, which is either manufactured in-house or sourced from the UK.
We are working closely with our major European and global suppliers, the majority of whom are in-house, actively making arrangements to hold increased stocks of any ranges that are manufactured in Europe. Our stock build is designed to mitigate the inevitable challenges that would arise on the 1st January 2021 and actions taken include securing additional storage space to enable greater stock holding.
Additionally we are preparing for the inevitable changes to customs arrangements with an aim to mitigate any potential delays at borders pertaining to the supply of imported products and raw materials. Including, but not exclusively, working with a number of specialist freight forwarders and logistics partners, giving us access to a number of ports across the country and ensuring that we have all documentation in place in an attempt to minimise any border delays.
Our short term actions significantly mitigate the risks to our supply chain in the event of a hard Brexit in the following months. We would like to reassure all of our customers that we are continually monitoring the situation and that we will provide updates as and when further clarity is obtained.
Product Regulations
All products supplied by Klober Ltd are covered by a 10 year guarantee against manufacturing defects and where appropriate meet British Standards such as BS 5534, BS 8612 and BS 5250.
Additional certification applies to selected products including BBA, BRE and IAB. Throughout 2021 we will work with the appropriate bodies to ensure that all necessary products have the new UKCA certification and as necessary the UK (NI) certificate to meet the requirements of Northern Ireland. Any new products introduced in 2021 will meet the requirement to meet the new UKCA standard.
As part of the BMI Group, a global roofing manufacturer and supplier, we are confident in our robust business planning. We will endeavour to update our customers when new information is available and thank you for your patience while we navigate this transition.
